JORO was born in 1935 as Johann Rosenthal in Veitsch, Styria. First he passed the apprenticeship as locksmith in 1953 then he completed the foreman training for mechanical engineering. From 1964 to 1990 he has been working as safety technician.

In 1965 JORO has made his first drawings and paintings yet. Till 1976 he produced pictures which are very different to his present style. When his children reached the age of pre-elementary, he started to accomplish child painting studies with them.

In 1984 he began to create perspective studies and in about 1990 JORO was on the search for his own style. All this led him to the abstract painting and finally he found his fulfilment in free painting. In 2002 he founded a studio in his home where he established the private painting school. Additionally to JORO`s private gallery he brought his creative activity to public attention:
